Our Mission:
"To enhance motorcycle safety and awareness on Louisiana roadways through public awareness and education."

Overview

In 1979, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration let a contract to the University of Southern California Traffic Safety Center to study motorcycle accidents.

The objectives of the study were to determine the causes of motorcycle accidents, analyze the effectiveness of protective gear such as safety helmets, and then figure out what countermeasures might help prevent accidents or reduce injuries.

The study was headed up by USC professor Hugh H. Hurt, Jr.

Even though the study was conducted 20 years ago, it is still recognized as one of the top analyses of motorcycle accidents.
